Lorenzo Merlini
Born in 1996, I live in the Marche Region, Italy, where I work as attorney. My trip started at 13 years old in a humble dojo located in a basement. I was a shy boy who did not like to exercise and, despite the interest in a practice that I felt related with ninja and Jedi, my association with Shotokan was a brief one.
Fast foreward to 2019, when I casually picked up Funakoshi’s “Goshin Renan Karate Jutsu”, that sat forgotten in my library. From that moment Karate has been my constant thought. When I’m not practicing it I’m looking for new information on the history of martial arts and their most obscure styles.
In February 2020 comes a decisive moment: meeting Daniele during a seminar makes me discover Koryu Uchinadi.
However, after a few years of intense training, the desire to get closer to the origins of the art and to the Okinawan tradition leads me to embark on a new path with the study of KishimotoDi, under the guidance of Noah Legel Sensei.
I am strongly convinced that the theoretical study of martial arts should be inspired by academic criteria, so that it can contribute to the awareness of every practitioner and to the social studies in general. Specifically, Okinawa Represents the perfect crossroads to deepen both the Chinese and Japanese culture.
Join me in this project to discover not only the past but also the living present of old school martial arts.
