Fascinated by its aesthetics, I ended up in a Karate class during my Bachelor studies. During those years, my spare time was spent cycling, swimming, running and playing trumpet.
My interest in Karate grew quickly, but at the time I was mostly concentrated on my training.
By the time of my PhD, though, I had found Patrick McCarthy’s IRKRS and his translation of the Bubishi, and finally got to the “flavor” of Karate that would anchor the rest of my martial experience.
I met Lorenzo a few days before the Italian Covid-19 lock-down, but our common interests started an acquaintance that rapidly grew into friendship. And it is Lorenzo’s ability in making me interested in things that I would have never considered doing otherwise that made me co-found this blog.
Here I hope to discuss about Karate and martial arts history and its place in human society, the phenomenology of aggression, and motor skill acquisition.
I have a background in Physics. Nowadays I work as a professional on workplace and fire safety and environmental risk evalutation. Martial art-wise, I keep on with my journey in Koryu Uchinadi Kenpo Jutsu while also practicing Brazilian Jiujitsu and, thanks to Sensei Vincenzo la Camera’s patience, trying to keep up with Shito-Ryu Karate.
